Hagglunds Thunder Torque Hydraulic Motor is a PM torque motor developed by Bosch Rexroth as a solution for applications requiring a fully electric drive directly connected without a gearbox. It is a type of multi-pole electric motor which allows generating large torque at slow speeds and hence offering a solution characterized by efficiency and reliability. It is powered using the natural power of permanent magnets which enables the motor to generate good torque properties while at the same time offering higher efficiency levels. Unlike other drive solutions, the motor operates gearlessly, reducing complexity and increasing efficiency in the process.
Specifically tailored to meet industrial application requirements, the Hägglunds Thunder Hydraulic offers a fully variable frequency drive from standstill to top speed. Its operating speeds range between 30 rpm and 300 rpm while maintaining constant efficiency above nominal speed levels. Torque offered by the motor ranges from zero up to 200 kNm and operating power is up to 4,700 kW depending on requirements of specific application areas. On the other hand, the motor can withstand up to 200 percent overload for about one minute.
The Hägglunds Thunder drives are highly efficient and have minimal maintenance needs. The water-cooled motor has the same characteristics of high torque and good precision as other Hägglunds products do. There is a built-in package of sensors that facilitates full monitoring of the drive, contributing to higher reliability and operational security. There are several different motor sizes in the Hägglunds Thunder range; moreover, they can be offered in either low, medium, or high voltage versions.
